The Lakeland Christian School Drama Department presents two dramatic productions during each school year—a fall musical and a non-musical play.
The LCS fall musical involves students in grades three through twelve. Students spend 8 weeks in rehearsal, working with a vocal director, drama coaches and choreographer.
In addition to four general public performances, a number of cast members typically present selected scenes at local retirement homes.
Recent musical productions have included The Little Mermaid, Annie, Beauty & the Beast, Seussical, JR., Mary Poppins and Peter Pan.
Secondary students at Lakeland Christian School may also audition for a role in the spring play. Students who participate in this production rehearse for six weeks prior to presenting three performances to the general public.
Students are coached on dramatic techniques such as breathing, diction, expression, blocking, characterization and presentation.
Recent plays include The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Father of the Bride, The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, Cheaper by the Dozen and Get Smart.
